Their incomparable vocal arrangements and delightful stage presence filled with comical antics have won the hearts of thousands of fans worldwide. In 1976 the Makaha Sons of Ni‘ihau began its professional career with five members as an opening act in a small nightclub known as “Uptown Yokos.” Throughout the years the group has reorganized several times; from members seeking other professional careers, to the untimely passing of two key members of the original group. Eventually, the Makaha Sons evolved into a trio, consisting of members Louis “Moon” Kauakahi on 6-string guitar, John Koko on upright acoustic bass and Jerome Koko on 12-string guitar. After the passing of John Koko in 2012 and the retirement of Louis “Moon” Kauakahi in 2014, the group has started afresh. For tickets, contact the Ruth B. Shannon Center For The Performing Arts. 2020-01-25 19:30:00 2020-01-25 19:30:00 America/Los_Angeles An Evening with George Winston A Special Evening at the Shannon Center with George Winston George Winston is undeniably a household name. He’s inspired fans and musicians alike with his singular solo acoustic piano songs for more than 40 years while selling 15 million albums. A tireless road warrior playing nearly 100 concerts annually, live performance for Winston is akin to breathing. Winston’s music is evocative, offering us all a chance to take a step back from our perpetually busy lives and let our minds adventurously wander. Restless Wind is a portrayal of Winston’s place in a chaotic world – his compositions extend solace with an idiosyncratic grace. George Winston’s classic albums, Autumn and December, are perennial favorites, along with Winter into Spring, Summer, 2017’s Spring Carousel – A Cancer Research Benefit, as well as two volumes of the compositions of Vince Guaraldi, two volumes of benefit albums for the Gulf Coast disasters, and six other solo piano albums. He released his 15th solo piano album, Restless Wind, via Dancing Cat Records/RCA Records on May 3, 2019.  For tickets, contact the Ruth B. Shannon Center For The Performing Arts. Ruth B.
